Psychology
Psychology...a word that brings up all sorts of things. In my mind it is in need of a serious overhaul, and I don't mean the word. Modern Psychology is still in its infancy, in fact, I see it has having taken a tumble backwards for some time. It has become much like science, mostly intellectual, with vast differences between its members, all subscribing to the one truth, when in fact if they were to integrate all the parts, they would find an incredible truth that would dissolve the ego/intellect stranglehold over the heart. We think we are awake, but thinking and being awake are two vastly different things. It is like watching television thinking it is real life and the TV sucks us in and mesmerizes us. And this is what most of us are doing, watching the inner TV called ego, which is all our cultural software (beliefs) operating us, versus our true being operating it. Therapy as it is today basically teaches others to function within a box versus assisting to be free of the box. Living in a Box
The psychiatry field is worse still with the drugs the prescribe. If they understood the insanity of our cultural software, they would begin to pry open their eyes/hearts to realize mental health issues are about those who probably see the insanity in the world and because everyone else is seeming to be "normal," they assume they are imbalanced.
Mind Freedom International - "In a spirit of mutual cooperation, Mind Freedom leads a nonviolent revolution of freedom, equality, truth and human rights that unites people affected by the mental health system with movements for justice everywhere." Challenge abuse by the psychiatric drug industry.
Waking The Tiger - ''Somatic Experiencing®'' (SE) is a short-term naturalistic approach to the resolution and healing of trauma developed by Dr. Peter Levine. It is based upon the observation that wild prey animals, though threatened routinely, are rarely traumatized. Animals in the wild utilize innate mechanisms to regulate and discharge the high levels of energy arousal associated with defensive survival behaviors. These mechanisms provide animals with a built-in ''immunity'' to trauma that enables them to return to normal in the aftermath of highly ''charged'' life-threatening experiences.
Although
humans are born with virtually the same regulatory mechanisms as animals, the
function of these instinctive systems is often overridden or inhibited by, among
other things, the ''rational'' portion of our brains. This restraint prevents
the complete discharge of survival energies, and does not allow the nervous
system to regain its equilibrium. The un-discharged “survival energy”
remains “stuck” in the body and the nervous system. The various symptoms of
trauma result from the body's attempt to ''manage'' and contain this unused
energy. more>>
